I received my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. Currently, I am co-leading the Smart Structures Laboratory at AUB with a long-term research goal of contributing to the innovation of manufacturing and evaluation of composite and smart materials and 3D printed structures and processes. An advocate of design thinking approaches, I have invested much of my time in a broad array of projects and programs aimed at more actively engaging students in their classes, schools, and communities. Leading a team of researchers and instructors experienced with Human-Centered Design to develop people’s ability to problem find and problem frame as expertly as they problem-solve. With a dream to reform our educational system, I founded and currently directing the AUB makerspace "THE RED ROOM" where I am advising a team of students and young designers to empower our youth and community with a student-driven space to explore their interests, develop creative projects, and learn to use tools, materials, and advanced technologies.
