• Responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrades, administration, monitoring and maintenance of databases and implement security measures to safeguard the database.• Evaluate, implement and maintain the Organization databases.• Evaluate, plan and recommend the storage requirements for the database to meet the present and future capacity requirements.• Administering and managing the database security in line with security policy.• Controlling and monitoring user access to the database.• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database to meet the business demands and future growth.• Evaluate and manage the database backup and restore as per the backup policy.• Contacts database vendor for technical support• Document and maintain database standard operating procedures and architecture.• Ensure storing, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures of database are functioning correctly.• Database capacity assessment, planning and maintain database standards.• Work with Application teams to provide proactive analysis, recommendation on database related issues and enhancements, analysis and if required deploying the patches into the database.• Evaluate, recommend the organization database architecture and data integration methods in line with business requirements.• Enhance and automate significant amount of DBA daily operations.

• Ensure Optimum Performance, High Availability and Recovery.• Involved in activities like Creating Databases, Users, Roles, Profiles, etc. Granting and Revoking object / System Privileges on Databases / Users / Roles. • Responsible for Space Management including Spool and Temp spaces.• Ensure Optimum Performance by actively monitoring low performing queries, skew ness, etc.• Ensure availability of resources for production jobs.• Ensure completion of Backup jobs in stipulated window. • Monitoring of Sessions, Nodes and Vprocs Information.• Monitoring Performance of queries and loads.• Investigating Space Usage & Monitoring the growth of the databases.• Copying objects from one database to another database• Executing change requests for DDL & DML statements from the users• Collecting Statistics.• Defining Alerts using Alert Policy Editor to Monitor Teradata System to take proactive actions like database space exceeding threshold limits by sending email, killing idle session for more than x hours. • Implementing multi-value compression.• Implementing Partitioned Primary Index.
