I hold a PhD in Sustainable Natural Resources Management from UK, with 32 years of professional work experience - 26 of which is on monitoring, evaluation, accountability and knowledge management. Currently I am serving the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in Riyadh as Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Consultant/ Advisor. Prior to this job, I worked for a USAID project in DR Congo as a Senior M&E Consultant and Environmental Lead. For two years, I worked with a USAID project in Bangladesh, as Senior MEL Specialist. I worked with Islamic Relief Worldwide in the UK as Head of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning for 10 years, & with a British NGO as Research Director for 4 years. From 1990 to 2002, I worked at Chittagong University, Bangladesh as Professor of Forestry. Currently, I am also an Honorary Advisor to the Center for Sustainability and Climate at the Prince Sultan University in Riyadh.I have 32 years relevant experience working in all phases of programme and project development, research, M&E, accountability, adaptive learning, and knowledge management. I have worked on programmes in a wide range of infrastructure and social sectors, have worked in post-conflict and emergency contexts, and have provided strategic direction, motivational leadership, and operational oversight for the MEAL team to undertake independent evaluation work at the Country, Sector, and Thematic level covering operations in all 31 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, Far East and Middle East.I have led the effort to institutionalize results based management in all 31 countries, and focused on capacity development, MEAL policies and processes development, long term strategy development, and performance management framework development in line with the internationally accepted principles and good practice standards and also managed and conducted more than 300 multi-sectoral emergency and development program M&E, and impact assessment in 31 countries. I have provided training on M&E, Impact Assessment, Result Based Management, Data Quality Assessment, Knowledge Management, Project Cycle Management, Accountability, Social Mobilizations, Participatory Rural Appraisal and Disaster Risk Reductions to implementing partners, mission level technical teams, government officials, local representatives, policy makers and field staff in 31 countries. Besides writing over 300 M&E and impact assessment reports on development programmes, I have 77 publications in peer-reviewed journals & have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
