About Mohammad Rahman
I am a Ph.D. candidate in chemistry at West Virginia University. My research involves an array of interdisciplinary studies based on Computational Biophysics, Mass Spectrometry, and protein expression and purification from bacterial cell. I do work on developing model combining hydrogen deuterium exchange (HDX) MS and MD to predict solution state conformation and dynamics of Intrinsically disorder peptide and protein motifs which is challenging using current tools. That model will be used to evaluate high-throughput drug screening where I utilized virtual screening using molecular docking and enhanced sampling method such as steered molecular dynamics (SMD) and umbrella sampling (US). Apart from this project, I am actively engaged in understanding the solution state and lipid-peptide interactions of membrane active peptides (MAPs) which undergo structural transition from unstructured to transmembrane helix under certain pH, where Molecular dynamics simulation (equilibrium simulation and enhanced sampling techniques), peptide biosynthesis (Bacterial cell), and HDX-MS were utilized. Additionally, I work on oligomeric state of blue and green proteorhodopsin (GPR and BPR, respectively) which solely based on Molecular dynamics simulations (NAMD and GaMD). I am about to complete my Ph.D. in chemistry (i.e., biophysics) and certificate in applied statistics with wide array of experience, and currently seeking position as Postdoc in an experimental molecular and structural biology lab to acquire further experience (i.e., cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography) where I can utilize my computational and experimental expertise.

Graduate Teaching Assistant
CurrentI am working as graduate teaching assistant along with working as Doctoral student. I teach Freshman General Chemistry Laboratory (CHEM-115L and CHEM-116L) and Senior's advance instrumental analysis lab (CHEM-310 L).
Certificate In Applied Statistics
In parallel to the Ph.D. in chemistry, I am completing master's equivalent certificate program in applied statistics at West Virginia University. My key role here to learn how to design, sampling, and analysis based on statistical inference. I am completing 5 theory and applied course which helped me to analysis data using programming language R and SAS.
Doctoral Student
Ph.D. Candidate
Graduate Research And Teaching Assistant
My current research includes Molecular Dynamics Simulation coupled with Mass Spectrometry to understand solution state conformation of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) and Intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) of proteins. I am also working on understanding the stability and function integral membrane protein which is solely based on molecular.
Research Assistant
I worked on templated nanoscale synthesis of metal cluster molecules in Raul's lab. I have successfully synthesized novel seven ligand molecules as templating agent to synthesize. I have developed a wide array of skill set while working on Raul's lab.
Graduate Student
I completed Master of Science in Electroanalytical Chemistry at Mississippi State University. My research includes fabrication and characterization of Inductively heated electrodes and apply these electrodes in novel potentiometric techniques temperature pulse voltammetry (TPV).
