I’ve joined the Core-DevOps squad in order to help the team to speed up the delivery of green field projects related to moving to the cloud (AWS) of the current infrastructure.

As a DevOps engineer, I took part in building an analytics platform for IBM. The product was following the micro service architecture with components written mostly in Java and Ruby.My work has involved designing with the help of the developers, the hosting platform on AWS, automate the testing and deployment of the application using Chef and Jenkins, write scripts which are pulling data from 3rd party providers and converting it, so it suits the customer’s needs, and providing support.Besides, in order to make sure both teams (system administrators and developers were on the same page, I’d often animate workshops presenting the technologies deployed.

I’ve been hired to prove to the company what were the benefits of having a system administrator who practices DevOps in-house.I’ve designed an on-demand testing platform on AWS. Developers were given the possibility to design jobs on the Jenkins master and on my side, I’d be modifying the master’s configuration on the fly, get the master to provision slaves on the fly and getting unit tests ran on those servers. I’ve also got all their services automated by Chef and custom Python scripts.Most of the work was done within AWS services. Some machines were hosted at other cloud providers such as Rackspace and Adapt (aka Sleek).

I was responsible to Build, manage, and continuously improved the build infrastructure for global software development engineering teams including implementation of build scripts, continuous integration infrastructure and deployment tools.
