Researcher
I joined ASPARi (Asphalt Paving Research and innovation) at the beginning of January 2021. As a Researcher, I have been working on ontological development for pavement lifecycle management. I have also been involved in the Process Quality improvement (PQi) measurements within the ASPARi network (Dutch contractors and Rijkswaterstaat).Achievements:1. Structured road pavement data for contractors and asset managers by developing an ontology for pavement lifecycle management2. Facilitating data exchange between contractors of road constructions and road asset managers in the Netherlands3. Improved road construction process by performing PQi measurements for different contractors such as Bam, Boskalis, Dura Vermeer, TWW, Ballast Nedam, etc.4. Enhanced insight into pavement behavior by analyzing the road construction data of A9, A20, N206, N502, N638, N734, etc.
Research Assistant
I have been a research assistant for two years and contributing to the Ph.D. study of Dr. Goli. The main aim was to investigate the effect of moisture susceptibility on fatigue and cracking behavior of Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) by using an alternative moisture method instead of the Lottman method. In addition to WMA, Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) and Steel Slag were also investigated. There were several tests conducted such as Indirect tensile strength, Indirect tensile fatigue, and beam fatigue tests.Achievements:1. Explored an alternative moisture evaluation method to be used on performance tests2. Enhanced the sustainability of asphalt materials by comparing steel slag with Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in different performance tests of static, dynamic creeps and 4-point flexural bending
Researcher
I have been working on fatigue and recovery evaluation of Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) in the pavement laboratory for two years. Three different SMA mixtures (containing cellulose fiber, 3 percent of SBS, and 5 percent of SBS) were fabricated by two types of aging conditions (short and long-term aging). In addition to fatigue failure and recovery of the SMA, Resilient modulus, Indirect tensile strength, and Long-term oxidative aging of this mixture were investigated.Achievements:1. Improved the strength, resilient modulus, fatigue, and recovery of SMA mixtures by comparing cellulose fiber with SBS modifier2. Initiator of using Indirect Tensile Fatigue test at Pavement laboratory of University of Tehran by making a test frame and changing the setup of the test software3. Improved knowledge and experience by conducting several asphalt performance tests
Research Assistant
I first met Mr. Abdoolateef at the Pavement Laboratory of Tehran University in 2019. He was a Ph.D. Student at Al-Mustansiriya University and he had decided to conduct the experimental phase of his Ph.D. thesis at the University of Tehran. His study investigated the different percentages of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) effect on Cold Mix Asphalt (CMA) and I was chosen by Dr. Alavi (Head of Pavement Laboratory) to help him in his experimental evaluations. There were several tests conducted such as Resilient modulus, Dynamic modulus, Indirect tensile strength, Semi-Circular Bending (SCB), Dynamic creep, and Beam fatigue tests. Achievements:1. Improved knowledge and experience by conducting several asphalt performance tests2. Explored the effect of different RAP percentages on CMA3. Determined the most applicable mix based on each performance behavior
Laboratory Teaching Assistant
Enhanced insight into asphalt performance tests by being Teaching Assistant (TA) in Pavement laboratory course for two semesters
Teaching Assistant
Improved communication and presentation skills by being Teaching Assistant (TA) in Foundation Engineering course for a semester
