Lancaster University: Student Ambassador
As a student ambassador, I served as a valuable resource for incoming students, offering guidance on academic planning, familiarising them with campus resources, and highlighting involvement opportunities to facilitate a smooth transition into university life. My commitment to this role showcased my robust interpersonal and communication skills, enabling me to establish meaningful connections with both prospective students and their parents, as well as with members of the broader community.Furthermore, I actively demonstrated my leadership acumen and ability to work cohesively within diverse teams. This was particularly evident in my collaboration with fellow Student Ambassadors and university staff, where I consistently contributed to our shared objectives and ensured effective teamwork.
Covid-19 Student Support Amabssador
The role began during one of the peak times of Covid-19, and I took this role to help work in an environment that required me to dig deep and rely on working in a team and on my own initiative to solve problems. The role entailed ensuring that the students flying in internationally and who needed to quarantine had a comfortable time and also ensuring they got their essential parcels and testing kits. The role required extensive communication within the team as it was a new role with no systems. So communication became crucial, and it needed us to build several systems 1) Ensure testing kits were sorted, delivered, collected and sent out to correct mail posts2) Making a system to sort out essential parcels and also make time for regular deliveries3) Welfare checks in spare time to make sure students are fine4) Quick problem solving when students needed help with anything at all These responsibilities required me to work overtime and all the other skills that I gained from the role would be useful in a healthcare setting in not only dealing with patients but also in improving health care systems and make sure that customer satisfaction increases by making it more efficient.
Peer Mentor
I took on this role to improve my verbal communication and time management skills. The volunteer role gave me a chance to connect with people from different backgrounds and introduce them to the English culture and also help them settle into the university lifestyle. It required me to dig deep and also be vigilant whilst performing this role to make sure that students are settling in well and not getting homesick, depressed or upset because of an incident. It was a responsibility that required good time management skills to not only ensure the students were well attended but also that I was meeting my deadlines easily
Lancaster University: (Covid Testing Programme Assistant)
My role involved assisting service users in self-swabbing for COVID-19 lateral flow tests and ensuring that the results were processed and recorded properly as per guidance provided by the NHS.
