Director, Translation
Current*Managing, handling, and coordinating the day-to-day translation of a wide variety of corporate communication documents from and into English and Arabic.*Revising, editing, and proofreading translations done by other colleagues to ensure that the most accurate words/phrases are used in the appropriate context, the content is of high quality, and is fine-tuned to the target audience.*Performing QA checks as a final step in the translation workflow to ensure that the translated text accurately conveys the correct message, is grammatically and factually correct, very well-expressed, organized coherently, and flows naturally and smoothly in the target language.*Upskilling and mentoring fellow translators, preparing style guides, and establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with external translators.*Assessing and quoting translation projects, setting deadlines, and allocating the workload based on each team member's subject matter expertise & capacity.*Assisting in the recruitment of translators and Arabic-speaking PR professionals (creating customized writing assessments, marking candidates’ work, and evaluating results).*Thinking outside-the-box and making solutions for challenges that may arise during translation.*Liaising with clients to discuss any unclear points and relevant issues.*Drafting Arabic press releases, speeches, letters, and other content, when needed.*Transcribing audio and video recordings/interviews, then translating the content from English into Arabic and vice versa, when needed.
