Covered the core subjects of basic accounting, economics, operations, strategy, marketing & leadership. Further expanded with electives in family business, strategic business simulation, marketing research, sales management alongside a year-long entrepreneurship course that involved joining a team, searching, testing and validating a business idea, writing a business plan and presenting it.One of the personal highlights were being a member of one of the best performing teams in the marketing research elective where the team researched the supplements & vitamins market in Spain and attempted to come up with a product in that category and position it properly.Another highlight was working with a tech-related startup in the fitness field (PlayEnable, based in London, England) and further writing a business plan and presenting it. The project involved analysing financial, operational, and marketing aspects of the project and communicating with potential customers through surveys and one-to-one meetings to further understand their needs and how the business can help them.

 Participated in supply tenders and negotiations to buyers in southeast Africa and with suppliers from the Arabian/Persian Gulf region as well as some accounts in India and the Middle East. Scouted the market for spot deal opportunities and possibilities to utilize the company’s storage tanks or fuel tankers. Supervised the sales of regional offices in Africa, as well as the post-sale operations, such as transportation of products (by trucks, rail tankers, or through the pipeline), inspection services, inventory management and product releases. Gathered market intelligence and handled relationship management with some of the key accounts under southeast Africa and the Arabian Gulf. Trained junior colleagues on the job to understand the basics of fuel trading and transportation, and to further handle the company’s southeast African sales and operations.

 Took on the roles of sales and post-sales processes and activities of the east-African sales unit after identifying a disconnection between them. Increased customer satisfaction and loyalty, displayed by more frequent sales to smaller customers who appreciated the personal attention and care that was provided before and after sales were conducted. Participated in supply tenders and negotiations to buyers in southeast Africa and with suppliers from the Arabian/Persian Gulf region. Sold petroleum products to clients in southeastern African countries such as Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, and South Africa. Established connections with many of the clients from those countries and helped to increase sales, out of storage tanks, of more than 300,000 cubic meters annually (an increase of 10%). Supervised the sales of regional offices in Africa, as well as the post-sale operations, such as transportation of products (by trucks, rail tankers, or through the pipeline), inspection services, inventory management and product releases.  Improved inventory bookkeeping of stocks and kept the managers up to date with the costs of products in the tanks.

 Worked on a few different projects including a brief period with a GIS project for Boubyan Island, and maintenance/configuration of the Distributed Control System for a pilot plant refinery (by Honeywell) at the Ahmadi branch of KISR.
