Assist in the identification and sequencing of speakers, field visits, and exercises most appropriate for LDF fellows and to meet the objectives of the program. Assist in serving as the point of contact with teaching faculty, outside speakers, field visits, LDF fellows, and counterparts at World Learning/ U.S. State Department. Prepare program materials, surveys, briefing books, reports, and other related documents as required to meet the objectives of the program. Assist program directors, teaching faculty, and outside speakers in the classroom daily to facilitate the learning and teaching objectives for each session and the program. Serve as a resource to the program directors, teaching faculty, and outside speakers on the MENA region and critical issues around peace and conflict and promoting civic engagement. Serve as a resource to LDF fellows on issues of acclimation related the programs and life in the US.

Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities. Fellows earn a master’s degree related to international relations, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution, or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies. The Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center is one of six Rotary Peace Center Partner Universities worldwide. Fellows are selected on a very competitive basis to study at the Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center.The joint Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center takes advantage of the best faculty, courses, resources and technology that each university offers. All of our Fellows have access to these resources on both campuses. Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are both border the Research Triangle Park, home to internationally renowned research facilities and corporations.

Middle East And North Africa

After completion of an extended training program that included both theoretical studying and practical skills training, which took place in Thailand and became qualified to supervise, facilitate, coach and monitor the progress of participants in the self-development program that lasts 42 days and teaches meditation techniques for the inner peace development of participants. The program offers daily-guided meditation sessions and discussion to promote certain topics related to promoting peace and mutual respect and to support the practice of mindfulness in participant’s daily life.

Gaza Strip

• Monitors, analyzes and reports on humanitarian response and developments during crisis and rise of conflict. • Leads and participates in large, complex projects relief projects during rise of conflict, humanitarian/emergency assistance for complex emergency that includes intervention in conflict stricken areas and crisis zones.• Organizes and participates in work groups, meetings, conferences, consultations with other agencies and partners humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters.• Develop, lead and participate in large post-conflict reconstruction and rehabilitation projects targeting conflict stricken zones and conflict victims. • Represent the agency as a delegate in many international events, forums, meetings and conferences to review the latest updates related to the preparation process, intervention and rising challenges.

Palestinian Territory, Gaza Strip

• Work with a range of strategic partners to assist in the drafting, development and implementation of a responsive curriculum defined by the challenging needs of promoting peace, tolerance and understanding. • Research, develop and train in-service teaching personnel on quality enhancement and tailored-education strategies for children categorized as ‘conflict-affected individuals’• Support the education department in achieving the required standards of refugees and displaced-persons relief as outlined in the UNRWA mandate.

Palestinian Territory

Locally involved in social and peace activism. Meeting, coordinating, and accompanying international activists and delegations visiting Gaza Strip. Took part in many youth led initiatives and campaigns, and received a short training in Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills sponsored by Harvard University.
