Dr. Mohammed A. S. Khalid (Ph.D., P. Eng.) received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from  the University of Toronto in 1999. He has over 25 years of experience in teaching,  research and development in academia and industry. Before joining the University of Windsor in August 2003, he worked for 4  years as a Senior Member of Technical Staff in the Verification Acceleration R & D Group (formerly Quickturn), of Cadence  Design Systems, based in San Jose, California. His research and development  interests are in architecture and CAD for field programmable chips and systems, CAD algorithms and tools, electronic design automation (EDA), reconfigurable computing, embedded system design, digital system design and hardware  description languages. His experience includes creating and supervising the development of large scale software systems using C/C++ for EDA, High Performance Computing (HPC) and embedded systems. His current research focus is on power efficient FPGA-based hardware acceleration for HPC, high level synthesis (HLS) for FPGAs and automotive embedded systems, especially for autonomous vehicles and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). He has published several papers in these areas and holds a U.S. Patent in the area of architecture of reconfigurable systems. He has graduated 40 Masters and 3 PhD students.
