Motivated and driven accredited Senior Clinical Coding Officer (ACC), NHS Career Ambassador and Rochdale Care Organisation BAME Staff Network Lead, I am currently based at Rochdale Infirmary, Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust. I graduated from the University of Bradford with a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Sciences and then went on to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Cytogenetics whilst working at St Marys Hospital in Manchester. I then trained as a Clinical Coder at Bradford Royal Infirmary and worked there untill 2016 when I left to join Manchester Foundation Trust where I gained my ACC qualification in Clinical Coding. I then joined Pennine Acute NHS Trust and have been with the Northern Care Alliance Foundation Trust since 2018. I took up the role of BAME Staff Network Lead for Rochdale Care Organisation and was introduced to Dr Stuart Stewart (RCO Research Ambassador) who had an interest health & research in the community. Our work with Madina Masjid on safe fasting during Ramadhan won the best public engagement award at the NW Regional NIHR Health & Research awards 2022. I was then nominated for the Care Org. Corporate awards for Research & Innovation and subsequently the 2023 Northern Care Alliance Colleague Awards in the Research & Innovation category, both of which I won. I am still actively involved in community engagement with a number of community organisations and currently working with Dr Louise Tomkow (NIHR Research Fellow) to deliver a 12 month programme of Health Seminars. I have supported the Genes & Health project over the last 18 months and continue to work closely with the Manchester Genes team to collaborate and engage with community groups. I am a member of the Genes & Health Community Advisory Board. As an NHS Careers Ambassador, I have been to a number of schools and colleges to talk about Clinical Coding and was recently invited by NHS England Northwest to a careers event at the Manchester United stadium . I want to develop my leadership skills and have embarked on the NHS North West Leadership Academy Lead Positive programme. I have a track record of active involvement in Equality & Diversity events including Black History Month & South Asian Heritage Month amonst others. I have organised several very successfull events at Rochdale Infirmary bringing together staff from across the hospital site as well as Managers from the Executive team and leaders of religious bodies from within the local community.
