New product development through R&D activities.

• Experiments with Gas and Water atomization process in vacuum induction melting system. • More No. of water atomization experiments conducted for thesis.• Powder characterised by using standard procedure like ASTM B214, B212, B527 and B213. • Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and optical microscope are used to study morphology, surface texture and internal porosity of the powder. • Qualitative analysis of particles• Pycnometric density• Water spray characterised in a newly constructed workbench with the help of Global Size Velocimetry (GSV) and high speed imaging technique.• Characterisation of free fall jet breakup.• New water atomization model developed based on the experimental data. • Broad range of particle sizes, i.e. 1 micron to 4000 micron (wide range of pressures 2 bars to 1000 bars).• Cu, Fe, Sn, Stainless steel and Fe alloy powders• MIM powder fabrication- Ultra high water pressure

Crash and Airbag simulations.

Ultraviolet radiation during welding process was measured and then a method was developed to control the radiation during different welding processes (mostly with TIG and MIG processes).

Overall process control in a medium scale industry, where experienced with induction melting of grey cast iron, ductile iron and Ni-resist alloys. Apart from melting and pouring, I had experience with hand moulding (mostly Co2 method), machine moulding, fettling, shot blasting and quality control. We introduced a hand moulding method to cast a single piece weight up to 1 metric ton. (Coal nozzles used in thermal powder plant)
