Project was undertaken at ARAI, India where the diesel engine was being converted to dedicated CNG engine and engine is made to meet Euro V norms. Numbers of modifications were done on the engine. The primary modifications were made on the piston, cylinder head, intake manifold, throttle body adoptions and exhaust system. Two different configurations like throttle body injection and multipoint injection were tested. Engine is having two intake ports, location of injector plays important role for getting targeted performances. The injection timing, volumetric efficiency estimation, deciding short term and long term fuel trims with respect to engine calibration. Further the metallic catalytic converter with two brick subtracts is used. Tests were carried on the engine dynamometer and various tests like CFD simulation, CATCON loading assessment etc.
