Responsible for all aspects of database architecture within Auto Trader. Main consultation point for SQL Server, Oracle and MongoDB. Main achievements while in this role include overseeing an Oracle database audit over a 6 month period, Continuing to develop the Auto Trader SQL Server estate including a migration project for our overseas business to the latest version of SQL Server with clustering and DR using availability groups as standard. Currently working on a Migration project for a multi million pound business acquired by Auto Trader to SQL Server 2016 into our Data Centers. Embarking on hosting databases in cloud platforms using both AWS and GCP. Testing Amazon RDS extensively using Terraform Infrastructure as code. Also responsible for managing relationships with third party database vendors including MongoDB and Oracle, and involvement in budgetary decision making for database related products.Responsible for GDPR strategy within databases including architecting and implementing encryption at rest and TLS.

Employed initially to combat the lack of experience of the team in the SQL Server Arena. Started as SQL Server Specialist with cross training into the Oracle Database arena. Generally seen as the go to person for the SQL Server architecture, leading the strategy for the evolution of the environment to encorporate new technology and features.Competent in all flavours of SQL Server since SQL 2000. Currently support 1 SQL 2000 box, a small number of SQL 2005 & 2008 boxes, a large number of SQL 2008 R2 implementations (Clustered), and a SQL 2012 Cluster.Recently lead project to consolidate various SQL Servers (clustered and non clustered) into a 4 Node SQL Cluster with high resilience. This project has included migrations of various flavours of SQL Server into a consolidated SQL Server 2008 R2 environment with DNS integration to give applications seamless connectivity regardless of database positioning.Currently also leading a migration project from database perspective to bring in a previously independent arm of Trader Media Group into our Data Centres. This project requires communication at various levels as well as cross collaboration across all IT teams. Highly visible piece which is part of the company's top priorities for the year.Advocate of Automation and scripting and skilled in Batch scripting, Powershell and VB Scripting. One of my first implementations when I started was to introduce daily reports from each SQL Server to give heath status on errors, job failures, backup status and disk space.Highly Skilled in the Oracle RDBMS having worked on Oracle 9i, 10g & 11g with RAC. Experienced in day to day administration and problem solving of all oracle related issues in a highly pressured 24/7 environment. Also use OEM Grid Control 10g and OEM Cloud Control 12c on a daily basis.Also experienced in MySQL, Vertica and MongoDB as part of the database offering within the company. My client was a London based Risk insurance and Underwriting company called Amlin for whom I am the on site client facing DBA. I worked for Exxon Mobil as an Industrial placement student and successfully transferred my classroom IT skills into helping to make a difference for the company. My responsibilities and achievements included:• Developing a database application for data entry, analysis and reporting of logistic operations for Esso Fuels (Ms Access).• Travelling to Exxon Mobil business headquarters in Budapest to carry out systems testing on a logistics tool I had developed.• My major achievement was that I had transferred several requirements proposed to me by management into real live applications being used by approximately 100 people within 14 logistical operations.
