IONIAN is a new submarine and terrestrial fiber optic system connecting Athens and Thessaloniki to Milan and Rome.

GRNET – National Infrastructures for Research and Technology, provides networking and cloud computing services to academic and research institutions, to educational bodies at all levels, and to agencies of the public, broader public and private sector. It is responsible for promoting and disseminating network and computing technologies and applications, as well as for promoting and implementing Greece’s Digital Transformation goals. Thus, GRNET leverages the educational and research activity in the country, towards the development of applied and technological research in the fields of telecommunication networks and computing services.GRNET owns and operates the Greek Internet Exchange (GR-IX). During my employment at GRNET, I am serving as the Head of GR-IX (see above).

GR-IX is the Greek Internet Exchange. It is a neutral, non-profit Internet Exchange. It currently has two separate infrastructures, GR-IX::Athens with more than 60 connected networks in 3 interconnected PoPs and GR-IX::Thessaloniki with more than 25 connected networks in 1 PoP.Championed all aspects of GR-IX, including all technical, commercial and policy issues.

The European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX) is the trade association for internet exchange points and public peering in Europe. We represent European member IXP interests on regulatory issues, and we gather and distribute best-practice information between IXPs to support excellent practice, and a stable internet for users around the world.I was elected to the Board of Directors of Euro-IX in 2019.

University of Patras, is the third biggest University of Greece with more than 50 years history. During my employment, I was assigned the Technical Manager role in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), responsible for the IT infrastructure of the Department.

Computer Technology Institute & Press – “Diophantus” (CTI) is a research and technology organization focusing on research and development in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). I began working at CTI while I was a student at the University of Patras / Computer Engineering & Informatics Department, back in 2003. I was part of the team responsible for the operation and development of the Greek Schools Network (GSN). GSN is the national network of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs which safely interconnects 16.079 schools of Primary and Secondary education, including educational units abroad, services and entities supervised by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs at central and regional level. The GSN provides services to more than 1 million students, teaching staff, other educators and other entities of Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.As a network engineer, I was part of the team responsible for the interconnection of the aforementioned schools and the daily operations for the AS8248 network. The network was mostly consisted of Cisco equipment (7200, 5400, 7600, 6800, asr1006, 3750, 3800), with more than 80 PoPs spanned throughout Greece.Later, during my time in CTI/GSN, I was the technical responsible for any future network upgrades (PoC, RFP/RFI, tender procedures) as long as the introduction of novel at that time network services (IPv6 deployment – GSN was one of the first educational networks going dual stack in the world, xDSL access technologies, interconnection of schools using optical MAN which have been built in Greece).
