Moinul Zaber is a computational social scientist focusing on AI, Machine learning, and Data science for technology policy. Dr. Zaber has 16 years of experience conducting research focusing on computational science. He received is Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Zaber has worked as a Senior Academic Fellow at the United Nations University (UNU-EGOV) from September 2019- July 2024. He has been a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, visiting Professor of Reitaku University, Tokyo, and visiting Associate Professor at CSIS, Tokyo University, Tokyo. a Research Fellow at the Economics and Management Department of Chalmers University, Sweden, and LIRNEasia, Sri Lanka.His research ranges from AI for public policy and safety, spectrum valuation, public protection and disaster response systems, usable privacy & security, blockchain for e-id , modeling urban habitat, electricity use and quality, people’s movement, traffic pattern, air pollution, human-robot coordination in future traffic management, conversational agents for low resource languages, using generative models for policy modeling, AI safety and awareness policy formulation. Moinul is one of the editorial board members of Elsevier’s Telecommunications policy journal. Moinul has been part of the Governmental national committees on spectrum management, broadband policy, Bangla Language for ICT and has worked closely with the regulators in Middle East, South and South-East Asian countries. He has published in various international peer-reviewed journals, taught at various governmental and non-governmental institutions, and regularly writes op-eds, gives invited talks and keynote speech at major conferences on AI, ICT, Telecom, and regulation.
