I am currently the Regional Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Miami University Regionals (Hamilton Campus, Middletown Campus, and the Voice of America Learning Center, and a Professor in the Departments of English and Languages, Literatures, and Writing. I am also an Affiliate Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Miami Regionals encompasses the three regional locations of Miami University, and employs approximately 150 full-time faculty members and 230 part-time faculty members serving approximately 3700 students. As Senior Associate Dean I am responsible for scheduling, curriculum, promotion and tenure, annual evaluation, and other personnel matters for six of the twelve Miami Regionals academic departments. Additionally, I am the divisional contact for schedule development and the lead academic scheduler for the College of Liberal Arts and Applied Science; I serve as the divisional academic liaison to Miami University's Responsibility-Centered Management (Budget Model) Committee; I am the academic liaison for space and physical facilities for Miami Regionals; and I chair the division's Council of Chairs. I serve as the Dean's designee for all promotion and tenure matters relating to the division, including making recommendations about promotion and tenure and representing the division on the University Promotion and Tenure Committee. I also supervise the libraries as well as the Regionals online course development unit. As a faculty member, I taught a balance of courses in first-year composition, introductory women's studies, and literature. I have published work in my field of Irish literature in a variety of scholarly venues. I am passionate about the creation and facilitation of positive teaching and learning environments within the bureaucracies of higher education. Today's higher education institutions have more business- and finance-related concerns than they have had in the past, and as an administrator, I strive to maintain a good balance between those concerns and the traditional pedagogical concerns of colleges and universities. My goal is to continue to work in academic affairs administration, in positions that support student, faculty, and institutional success.
