I have a Master’s Degree from Fordham University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, K-12. My experience ranges from elementary to adult learners, teaching English as a New/Second Language, AP English Language and Composition, and English Conversation classes. I have worked with most levels of proficiency, including those who are classified as "struggling learners" in both isolated and integrated environments. I am familiar with the Response to Intervention model and attained a Crisis Prevention Intervention certification. My formal and informal experience has provided me the opportunity to explore various approaches in my teaching style and pedagogy and has strengthened my skills as an instructor; I've been able to refine units in prose, fiction, and rhetorical content areas based on student level. My units focus on utilizing students' experience and background knowledge as leverage to inform their learning path. In my role as an educator, I work to encourage my students to practice learning as risk-takers and annotation aficionados*. My goal is for students to be responsible for their own learning, and feel empowered to engage with new endeavors.*To be continued...(written on 4/23/22)
