Soil Technician conducting the Natural Wetlands Condition Assessment (NWCA) throughout the state of Wyoming coordinated and funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of a program called the National Aquatic Resource Surveys. The NWCA examines the chemical, physical and biological integrity of wetlands through a set of commonly used and widely accepted indicators.Roles: Establishing wetland assessment areas, evaluating human-mediated physical alterations, wetland characterization of hydric soil, waters and condition assessments, identifying soil horizon layers and taking samples of soil isotopes, standard depth soil cores, surface water chemistry, chlorophyll-a, and microcystin.

This field work includes terrestrial prairie plant identification along transects, electrofishing multiple locations for Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scores, fish identification, Macroinvertebrate Aggregated Index for Streams (MAIS) sampling, Macroinvertebrate identification, chemical sampling (i.e. TSS, TDS, DO, ORP, pH, conductivity), Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI), map making in ArcGIS-Pro, nine-element form and watershed management writing.

Managing 80 vendors at the Athens Farmers Market (AFM) Est. 1972. Setting up and taking down the market on a weekly basis. Collecting food stamp tokens and "Market Bucks", a AFM currency used at the market, and distributing checks. This position required quick learning of each vendors pricing and company values in order to watch over all vendors booths with vendors needed a break.

A year of National service working with food pantries, event planning and education. The Donation Station addresses the Southeastern Ohio region's food insecurity challenges by providing immediate food access while simultaneously reducing food waste and working to support an equitable regional food system. Donation station has bi-weekly pick up dates for food pantries to pick up local food and bi-weekly farmers market dates and bi weekly Chesterhill Produce Auction dates to collect community donations of food and monetary donations. Money donations are spent at the location donations are given. Discovery kitchen events utilize and share recipes that feature local, seasonal, produce. At Discovery Kitchen events, community members can discover how delicious, easy, and affordable eating locally-grown produce can be. These events take place at a variety of locations including public libraries, schools, and food pantries.

Wildlife 2000 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improve habitat in the State of Colorado naturally. Ran by Sherri Tippie, a live beaver trapper, who humanly captures families of beavers reported as "pest". Animals are then housed and maintained until they are relocated to communities who have requested beavers to be released. These released animals then build dams and work as a keystone species to increase the aquatic and terrestrial habitat.This internship was onsite assisting with the repair of traps, trapping, home care and relocation/release of the beavers.
