Packaging Engineer, Research And Development
Packaging Development Researcher
Postdoctoral Fellowship
• Head of the PolyFlexPack laboratory, which focuses on polymer flexible packaging. Specifically, we specialize in extrusion film-blowing and film-casting techniques.Supervisor: Professor Abdellah Ajji• Conduct experimental analyses of various samples as part of ProAmpac's R&D alliance with Polytechnique Montreal University, which is focused on sustainability and food-safety.Supervisor: Professor Abdellah Ajji• Led a project to develop biodegradable PLA/PBAT blend nanocomposites using a novel approach.Supervisor: Professor Pierre Carreau
Postdoctoral Fellowship
• A novel, facile and cost-effective approach to developing innovative in-situ self-reinforced PLA materials was investigated. Supervisor: Professor Pierre Carreau• The influence of the molecular weight and crystallinity of PLA on the dispersion and distribution of MWCNTs, as well as the rheological, thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of PLA/CNT nanocomposites were investigated. The research was carried out under my supervision, in collaboration with Yingjie Li, a second-year Materials Science and Engineering intern. Together, we defined the project, conducted the research, and wrote reports and manuscripts on our findings.
Research Associate
• Performed regular maintenance and validation of equipment (MCR 302, 501, and 502 as well as Sentmanat Extension Rheometer (SER)) in the Rheology lab. (hands-on experience).• Performed rheological characterization of polymeric materials received from industries.• Investigated the extensional viscosity of the PLA blend system.Supervisor: Professor Pierre Carreau
Phd Researcher
Main tasks: Developed high-performance poly (lactic acid) (PLA) system through blending with poly (butylene adipate terephthalate) PBAT and incorporation of CNCs.Specific tasks: 1. Prepared well dispersed unmodified CNCs in the neat PLA (semi-crystalline and amorphous) and PBAT using a novel solvent casting method based on two and investigate the effect of dispersed structure on the melt rheological, morphological, and mechanical properties as well as the effectiveness of using two or one solvents.2. Prepared well dispersed unmodified CNCs in the biodegradable PLA/PBAT blends using a solution method (one solvent method) followed by a melt mixing method (internal mixing)3. Controlled the localization of finely dispersed CNC in order to minimize the coalescence during processing as well as stabilize the morphology of PLA/PBAT blends.4. Controlled the localization of finely dispersed CNC at the interface to achieve desirable morphological, rheological, thermal, and mechanical properties in the blends of PLA/PBAT.Supervisors: Professor Pierre Carreau and Marie-Claude HeuzeyAlso, during my Ph.D., I have actively participated in different projects alongside my Ph.D. work as follows:• Multifunctional fibrillated PLA/TPU and PLA/TPU/CNT composites• Nanoclay Migration and the Rheological Response in the PBAT/LDPE Blends• Super enhancement of rheological properties of amorphous PLA through the generation of a fiber-like oriented crystal network.
