As a math education professional since 2006 and a transformational coach since 2014, I have focused much of my career on the problem of math anxiety, and especially the ways in which it affects young women. During that time, I realized that math anxiety is much more than just an academic issue for students; it is a social and emotional issue that affects not only students, but also their parents and teachers. I have found that educating parents and teachers is the key first step to eradicating math anxiety in students. I am the author of Beyond Math Anxiety: 99 Insights (and a Calculation's Not One!), and am always looking for opportunities for public speaking and podcast guest appearances. Furthermore, in light of the current changes and challenges that the Covid era has presented to students, parents, and teachers, I am now branching out into the topics of mental health and financial literacy, and their connections to math anxiety and gender. Lastly, I have a strong interest in social and political issues as they relate to gender equality, and representation of female and non-binary voices in STEM and finance.

As the author of Beyond Math Anxiety: 99 Insights (and a calculation’s not one!) and a public speaker and transformational coach, I am here to inform parents and teachers of these social and emotional aspects so that they can better understand and support the next generation. I am available for public speaking and workshop facilitation nationwide (both in-person and via Zoom), and also consult with parents, teachers, and students one on one and in small groups. Furthermore, in light of the changes and challenges that the Covid era has presented to students, parents, and teachers, I am now branching out from strictly math and academics to focusing more on mental health and gender equality, and how they affect not only opportunities in STEM, but also in financial well-being. This is especially true for female and non-binary students, and for those who have pre-existing mental health challenges and neurodiversity. Show less
