I'm self-employed through the Rolf Design Co. (my LLC). I’m a fractional designer with expertise in designing for small/medium-sized SaaS companies. My active contracts usually consist of a 50-50 mix of brand design and UX/UI.On the front end I specialize in visual brand development where I help clients with stale or underdeveloped visual brands to grow their unique visual language without undertaking a full-on rebrand. I design visual brand refreshes, sub-identity systems, marketing campaign identities, and app identity systems.On the back end I help software companies with innovative UX problem-solving and UI design systems. I conduct user interviews along with wireframing and user testing, and I work closely with developers to implement pixel-perfect UI elements.

I played a key role in the designing and successful launch of OptioSurgical's flagship product / B2B web application as the sole product designer. I worked with the founding team to design everything from their market validation demo to their admin onboarding environment to multiple iterations of their flagship product based on user feedback. I created user flows, mock-ups, wireframes, prototypes, and UI components, ensuring alignment with our evolving design systems. I documented design processes and iterations in Sketch and Invision, promoting transparency and knowledge-sharing within the team.

I collaborated cross-functionally with Product Management, Ember Engineers and the QA Team to ensure design integrity and project success within the Documoto web app. I contributed to the successful launch of Documoto's first responsive user experience. I traveled with the Product Management team visiting users on-site during new product rollouts, documenting success and identifying areas of friction. I turned user research into user stories, problem statements and design requirements for each development sprint. I iterated and improved designs and user flows based on stakeholder and user feedback, technical input, and business decisions.

Lecturer for the Digital Design program at UCD, which integrates aesthetic, creative, and critical thought with expertise in advanced electronic media.I taught the Motion 3 class (animation for senior students) which helped students learn to communicate and execute motion design ideas in an environment similar to that of a professional studio. Students refined their skills in motion design with 3 main projects: Network Graphics Packages, Commercials/Promos and Live Event Animation.

As a Graphic Design Assistant I helped the Lead Designer with any job requests that came our way from the Broncos Marketing dept. or Stadium Management Company. Our 4 person group was very team oriented yet individually driven to complete our own projects. Our work consisted of publications, web design, brochures, posters, illustration and much more.

Worked intimately with a large range of markets advising in art direction and design strategy, creating exceptional graphic production for award winning newscasts, programming and advertisements, and daily redefined and empowered local networks across the country. Worked with broadcast graphics automation software and real-time character generators such as Vertigo XG, a cornerstone of daily workflow for every TEGNA newscast.

My internship for Creative Services at Sports Authority Field was incredible. I gained a lot of experience in live broadcasting by working Broncos home games and gained production experience by working various events throughout the year. My responsibilities included things like video editing, designing and creating DVDs, designing looping motion graphics for events, creating videos for scoreboard features, 3D modeling, and much more.

This job is mostly supervision with occasional updating of the software on the Macs. Aided students with problems with printing and using a render farm, and assisted students needing help with Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite.
