Lead all marketing efforts for a College that encompasses the natural sciences from the "core of the earth to the edge of the solar system" that produced more earth science research than any other institution in the world in 2015. I built the communications and marketing functions at the College of Environment from near-scratch in 2012.Together with a team of talented professionals, I work to share the vibrancy of our faculty, staff and students with potential donors, alumni, future students, peer institutions and more. We also provide a unique communications training program for faculty, consulting services for our units, and full web development team supporting efforts across the College.Promoted from Director to Managing Director and now, CCO.

I served two roles simultaneously:- Interim Director of Communications for Undergraduate Academic Affairs- Interim Assistant Director of Communications & Marketing for the College of Arts and Sciences.It was fascinating and wonderful to step in for two great communicators during their maternity leaves.

Consultant providing tailored strategic marketing and management consulting for good causes. Projects include:* Serving as a consulting project manager for the first GiveBIG, The Seattle Foundation’s first broad-based community campaign to raise funds for local nonprofits. We raised more than $3.6 million dollars online from more than 12,000 donors in 17 hours on June 23, 2011 (in partnership with Pyramid Communications)* Unearthing the rich history of the Washington State Arts Commission on the eve of their 50th anniversary through archival research and interviews* Crafting a funding strategy for the investigative journalism nonprofit InvestigateWest, assessing their competitive landscape and conducting interviews with board members and potential funders (in partnership with Groundwork Strategies and Sirius Advice)* Creating a 500-person launch gala, from event concept through project management and onsite coordination, for the launch of the University of Puget Sound's “One [of a Kind]” capital campaign (in partnership with Pyramid Communications)

Built a completely new brand and marketing/communications infrastructure for key audiences including prospective and current students, donors and potential donors, alumni, policymakers, employers, faculty, and staff. Projects included: • Bold, forward-looking messaging • Comprehensive visual identity and suite of print of print materials • Modern and effective electronic communications, from websites to social media • Proactive media relations • Tailored marketing consultation for staff and faculty • Successful strategic partnerships and events Managed a budget of up to $240,000 with a staff of up to four, including a web developer, writer, events coordinator, and graphic designer Expanded communication with peer institutions to build recognition for the Evans School’s work, paving the way for the school’s jump to 14th from 26th place overall in national rankings of schools of public affairs and top 5 rankings in two key areas of specialization—Nonprofit Management and Environmental Policy and ManagementEnhanced recruitment marketing efforts, contributing to largest-ever incoming classes for three consecutive years (2008, 2009, & 2010)Led the redevelopment of the Electronic Hallway (http://hallway.evans.washington.edu), converting a free library of teaching cases and resources to a paid subscription website that generated more than $20,000 in revenue in just three months

Developed and executed strategic public affairs projects for organizations including MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry), Seattle Chinese Garden, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Pike Place Market, Puget Sound Regional Council, Glaser Progress Foundation, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Seattle Foundation, Grantmakers for Education, and many others. • Created and monitored proposals, budgets, timelines, and contracts for multiple clients simultaneously; managed project budgets from $2,000 to more than $500,000 • Designed and facilitated processes for strategic, business, outreach, and marketing plans; directed and facilitated qualitative and quantitative research efforts leading to improved projects and programs • Created and implemented brand identities across multiple media; developed concepts, wrote messaging and copy, and managed design and production of print, web, and video projects • Planned, supervised, and conducted media outreach activities, including messaging and media plans, kits, releases, trainings, and conferences, resulting in positive coverage in local and national media • Produced conferences, fundraisers, and other events from concept through on-site logistics management for audiences from 10 to 1,500 • Hired and supervised interns and project associates
