I'm the health and safety coordinator for the Powerhouse and Services groups. With each group I aid them in Human Performance, Fatality Prevention, Mock MSHA inspections, Contractor Safety and etc. For the plant, I'm the Machine Guarding, Hot Work, and Confined Space SPA, Asbestos supervisor and Radiation Safety Officer.

Industrial Hygiene Assessment: Conduct industrial hygiene sampling for fluorides in smelting operation. Record data using Alcoa Industrial Hygiene Sampling Data Sheet and prepared samples for lab analysis. Analyze results & worked with site Industrial Hygienist to prepare risk control recommendations. Complete Employee Industrial Hygiene Exposure Monitoring Report.Meet with division personnel to explain results and recommendations. Review Respiratory Protection Program using the Alcoa Self Assessment Tool (ASAT), including collection of supporting documentation & observation of employees to confirm requirements, & provide recommendations. Safety Assessment (Fall Control)Work with Network Coordinators to identify Ladder Inspectors for all divisions.Review ladder inspector training materials & co-instruct training.Reconstruct Ladder Inspection Checklist to improve usage. Assist inspectors in creating portable ladder and indoor fixed ladder inventory for each division & mentor inspectors during initial round of inspections. Work with site Sr. Health & Safety Engineer to establish a sustainable process for future ladder inspections using Task Manager in Essential Suite (formerly ESS). Review the Fall Protection program using the ASAT and provide recommendations. Conduct Ergonomics assessment of cell operations using Alcoa’s Ergonomics Checklist Assessment. Recommend risk controls & communicate effect to employees. Review the ergonomics program using the ASAT and provide recommendations.Safety Assessment (Hot Work / Flammable & Combustible Liquids & Gases) Audit Hot Work Designated Areas to for compliance with requirements. Record and communicate findings. Audit Flammable & Combustible Liquids and Gases storage and usage areas for compliance with requirements. Record and communicate findings. Review Hot Work Program and Flammable and Combustible Liquids and Gases Program against government and Alcoa Standards and provide recommendations.
