Responsible for the departmental asset log using Q-pulse and the departmental website. I participate in auditing, SOP writing/review, EQA, ILC, verification, validation of equipment & processes and all other quality procedures completed with the laboratory.I am the departmental Health and Wellbeing champion.
Associate Practioner In Cytology (Trainee Biomedical Scientist)
Training for and completing NHS CSP certificate of competence - achieved March 2018. Then worked as a cervical screener, primary screening and rapid review screening 40 cases a day. While doing this started and completed 8 degree modules via distance learning as required for IBMS registration, completed IBMS pre-registration portfolio, completed in-house diagnostic cytology training portfolio, became competent in preparing diagnostic specimens and began working one day a week in the diagnostic prep lab. Completed daily molecular HPV testing using ROCHE COBAS 4800 in line with test of cure/triage protocol then primary HPV testing protocol. Following primary HPV role out, primary screened HPV positive slides and cytology negative slides for rapid review. Worked in gynae cytology specimen reception and prep lab on rotation and when required at short notice. Responsible for specimen reception training of new MLA/MTO staff and participated in training for molecular testing of all new starters. Participated in gynae EQA scheme until transfer of gynae services. Worked in this role until the transfer of the cervical screening service to NBT in March 2020. I then gained a role in the new diagnostic cytology department, working in the prep lab and learning to pre-report samples for post-vasectomy and crystals analysis.
