Co-leads the association’s magazine team, centralizing and unifying topic coverage to create multimedia content packages for customers. Spearheads the magazine teams’ directive to become “digital first.” Leads the continued development of the AMA’s blog, Elevate, and manages its day-to-day operations.

As a thought leader in the content department, I create top-quality industry coverage to drive traffic to AMA.org, the AMA’s LinkedIn page and the broader AMA digital portfolio. This role includes writing, editing, story ideation, long-term editorial planning, event coverage and travel reporting.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Generate story ideas, looking to the marketplace for trending business news and determining the marketing angle, and pitch to the editor regularly. 2. Write approved feature and department stories, juggling several projects at once and meeting rolling deadlines every week. Work with editor to polish copy as needed. 3. Research daily national and international business and political news to vet what news AMA.org readers need on a daily basis. 4. Contribute Web stories and e-newsletter (MNW, MI, Worldview, B-to-B, MHS) content on a weekly basis.5. Work with the art team and editor to help determine the best ways to illustrate stories. Solicit photos, charts, drawings or other images from sources to run with the stories. Vet and resize images for Web stories. 6. Page-edit all issue copy in a team editing environment during production week.7. Help prepare and post print and Web stories on AMA.org and add multimedia like slideshows and videos. Hyperlink evergreen AMA stories throughout Web stories, driving more traffic across AMA.org’s content pages. 8. Contribute to long-term planning for content calendar, organization-wide Intellectual Agenda and cross-channel topic coverage. 9. Work with the AMA’s digital and UX teams to deliver dynamic digital-first news stories. 10. Attend local and national events to generate contacts and story ideas; some overnight travel may be necessary.11. Attend AMA conferences and report on thought-leading sessions with two Web posts per day.
