About Molly Trinder
I have just completed my Primary PGCE degree at Nottingham Trent University having previously achieved a First Class with Honours in History, also at NTU. My desire to be a teacher began at the very beginning of my education journey. As a primary student, I always wanted to share my love of learning with those around me and constantly wanted to teach my family and friends the interesting things I had learned at school. This passion for learning and supporting others has fuelled my ambition to become a primary teacher as I want to inspire and support the young people I teach to achieve and become the best versions of themselves. I want to teach at primary level because I want to make a significant impact during learners’ formative years, to give pupils the best possible start in education, and to encourage them to explore the curriculum and encourage interests to keep pupils engaged.Alongside my History degree, I have accrued experience in a multitude of educational settings - including in-class placements, 1:1 reading support, and university-ran educational events. I have worked with a variety of age groups from year 3 to incoming university students and have gained useful insight into how children learn. My three years working as a Primary Learning Advocate have allowed me to make a positive impact in local schools by dedicating time each week to supporting the attainment of disadvantaged pupils with their reading. My most recent role as an unqualified Teaching Assistant has also helped me build on my existing knowledge further and has helped me to develop my behavior management competencies which will be instrumental to running a classroom. I am particularly proud of my Course Representative of the Year Award which I was awarded in 2022 for my work as a Course Representative for the BA History (single honours) cohort. I was nominated by my peers for my commitment to the role and for helping make positive changes to my course and the wider community. I am particularly interested in taking this experience into the classroom to help run a school council, or eco council to encourage pupils to want to take control of their learning and encourage them to develop their own real-life skills to help their personal development. Additionally, I have been incredibly lucky to have been awarded an NTU Postgraduate Masters Scholarship for my contributions to the course, university, and wider community. I am honoured to have been selected with this award - it is a true testament to my hard work and dedication.
