I am assisting generally with Mikoko Pamoja activities which includes outreach efforts, welcoming and guiding visitors to the project, promoting mangrove conservation and field work. Projects are varied across subject areas including diversity surveys for crabs and molluscs; measuring the economic gain of wood lots (a local alternative livelihood from cutting mangroves); seasonality of mangrove fisheries; fish parasites as a proxy for connectivity; carbon storage in seagrass; vegetation carbon estimates for mangroves.
