Serve as chief architect and innovator of LIFT’s program strategy and member of 5 person Executive Team. Responsible for implementing and growing LIFT’s program and demonstrating that LIFT’s model consistently improves family economic security and well-being, at scale. During tenure, 92% of families demonstrated progress on financial indicators, including an average monthly increase in earned income of $500. Led a 5 person national program and evaluation team as well as 25 program staff across four regions. Notable systems change wins include a 2 year randomized control trial in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and a Harvard University case study on LIFT’s organizational transformation.

Led turnaround of LIFT-New York regional office. Raised 76% of annual revenue target ($529,000) in 6 months, hired 4 new staff, recruited 1 new board member, increased family recruitment by 250% and improved financial outcomes across all indicators.

Led the organization’s efforts to ensure the sustainability and diversity of revenue streams, promote awareness of and engagement with LIFT’s mission, and shape the development of LIFT’s strategic vision to help families break the cycle of poverty. During tenure, partnered with CEO and President to execute an organization-wide restructuring that consolidated 6 regional offices into 4 and implemented a new reporting structure that resulted in $3.2M of annual savings. Post-restructure, led strategic planning process to shift the focus of LIFT’s services towards helping parents with young children break the cycle of poverty. During FY2016, served as interim Chief Development Officer. Responsible for $4.5M national fundraising goal and $2.7M regional fundraising goal. Led a 5 person national development team and 3 person communications team and provided fundraising and communications guidance to 4 regional management teams.

Served as a trusted advisor and resource to the CEO and staffed the Board of Directors and Executive Team to execute LIFT's 2012-2015 strategic plan. Managed annual organization-wide goal setting process and quarterly performance reporting to the Board of Directors. Served as primary ghostwriter for internal and external CEO communications. Partnered with search firm to hire and orient senior talent, including a Chief Program Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Regional Executive Directors.

Working within an unparalleled network of engaged civic leaders, Leadership New York (LNY) participants develop the skills to get things done in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. LNY presents participants—professionals who are deeply immersed in the city’s social, political, and economic issues—with challenges designed to push them to explore all aspects of an issue and navigate varying stakeholder interests. The program uses intellectual resilience and inquiry-based leadership training methods practiced by business executives and leading nonprofits.

Participated in investment selection, portfolio management and investor cultivation for leading venture philanthropy firm. Managed launch and donor cultivation for New Profit's first issue-specific fund, the Early Learning Fund. Conducted due diligence on 5 organizations, resulting in 3 $1M investments in poverty alleviation, foster care transitions and violence reduction in schools. Supported social entrepreneurs and their senior leadership teams at $1M-$10M portfolio organizations to develop Theories of Change, growth strategies and capital campaigns. Contributed to strategy, writing and investor cultivation resulting in a $5M Federal grant from the Social Innovation Fund.

Founded and led a nonprofit that teaches undergraduate student leaders about social innovation and engages them in high-impact pro-bono consulting projects with local nonprofits. To date, cC has recruited more than 750 undergraduates and MBA students to provide 68,000+ hours of consulting to 125 nonprofits, totaling approximately $1.25M in pro-bono services to the Chicago community. Selected as Northwestern Public Interest Program Fellow and was one of three finalists for the 2009 Chicago Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year Award.

Managed a portfolio of constituent cases, working to devise solutions and coordinate efforts among the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Pentagon and other appropriate Federal agencies on behalf of military personnel.

Served as Deputy Campaign Manager for the U.S. delegate’s reelection campaign to the UN Human Rights Committee. Designed and implemented the U.S. selection strategy to allocate UN Democracy Fund dollars to civil society organizations. Authored the first Congressional Report on the Fund’s status. Recognized for exemplary contributions to the Lebanon Evacuation Task Force.
