To attract and retain the next generation of CTA employees, I lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for up to 90 College Internship Program roles agency-wide each year. I also directly support interns and managers, and foster an engaging and growth-focused internship experience by curating and facilitating a robust year-long programming schedule to include professional development, team-building, and transit industry-related sessions for College Internship Program participants.

I continued my policy advocacy work at a more elevated level: working in coalition for both defensive and proactive legislative work, co-drafting fact sheets and draft legislation at the State level, and leading the team's bill analysis and tracking processes for the Spring 2022 legislative session. I cultivated relationships with other local, state, and federal advocates, impacted parents, direct practitioners, and activists to continue to shape and align our team's work. I also developed external resources such as a nationally-circulated child welfare reading list; online presentations on racism in child welfare for the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership, the National Legal Aid & Defender Association, the Kempe Center, and prospective funders; and a language guide, historical timeline, and group principles for the Illinois Racial Disproportionality Task Force established by HB3821.

As a graduate social work intern, I worked between 10-30 hours each week with the Community Justice team, focusing on policy advocacy that kept families together and in their communities. I supported the team's legislative agenda on child welfare/family policing issues, provided technical assistance and meeting facilitation support to a parent-centered practitioner's group convened by Shriver, and used research I conducted to build and co-lead public online presentations on racial disproportionality in child welfare.

As a senior trainer, I continued to perform all functions of a trainer with increased responsibility for leadership among peers and across the organization. I took on additional project management roles for summer programming, led professional development opportunities locally and nationally, and co-facilitated a weekend-long retreat at a college partner's campus. I also served as lead for various projects throughout Posse's 9-month recruitment process.

I helped recruit, interview, and select 120 Posse Scholars from 2900 Chicago-area nominees. Once Scholars were chosen, I developed and co-facilitate weekly two-hour workshops for 30 of them, and continued advising and supporting 120 undergraduate Scholars at three partner colleges as well as more than 150 alumni in the workforce. I also coached and collaborated with faculty mentors through weekly calls that addressed factors of Scholar persistence.

At CEP, I coordinated 210 volunteer opportunities with nonprofit organizations for civic leadership programs geared toward middle and high school students. I also served as an on-site staff member for several of those programs, and trained staff prior to the program. At CCE, I I selected and trained 32 undergraduate music mentors for a music production program at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. I also supported the development of both day-long and summer-long city-wide immersion experiences for Northwestern students and faculty. My work in both positions collectively generated 1,750 service hours in 5 U.S. cities.

Greater Chicago Area

While this pilot program was based on Milwaukee peer mediative models, I customized the model to fit community needs. I taught restorative justice practices to students in grades 4-12 to build nonviolent conflict resolution skills, developing and facilitating a curriculum of over 80 lesson plans to implement in 7 Chicago schools. I also supervised and partnered with the program's classroom facilitator, oversaw the local program budget, developed quantitative and qualitative research instruments to assess program impact for participants, and produced quarterly funding reports.

UGIVE.org was a free nonprofit website connecting high school students with nonprofits in their areas to "catalyze, excite and empower the next generation of volunteers in order to nurture life-long givers."As 1 of 12 AmeriCorps VISTAs deployed throughout Ohio in UGIVE.org's first year of expansion from their Cincinnati headquarters, I published media content and built relationships with school personnel, high school students, and nonprofits to raise awareness about our platform. By personally targeting more than 100 Cleveland-area schools and 15 Chicago-area schools for outreach, I recruited 750 new student users and 55 school additions that committed more than 800 hours of service.
