About Molly Hanning

Molly Hanning is a sexual violence activist, studying undergraduate politics at Royal Holloway University of London. She is the founder and project manager of Academics Against Assault, a non profit organisation committed to the expansion of consent education and sex-positive conversations across Universities. During further education at Sweyne Park Sixth Form, Molly worked within the student leadership team to facilitate a virtual induction and a transition of nearly 400 new pupils to Year 7 and the Sixth Form. Additionally, she assisted with the remodelling and renovation of a staff office into a safe-space, wellbeing room following the reintegration of students into schools following the Coronavirus pandemic in 2019 and 2020.After facing sexual violence in her first year at University, Molly continues to candidly share her experience with consent, the patriarchy and speaks openly on feminist issues on her podcast 'A Girl's Gravy.' This incident equally drove Molly to found 'Academics Against Assault' in her second year, and is currently managing a project which aims to co-create a compulsory consent module with Royal Holloway in 2023. Academics Against Assault is further looking to expand to other Universities around the UK, strategise a separate support network for male students who face sexual violence, improve well-being communities around Universities, and educate students on rape-culture and structural and systemic violence against women. In addition Molly enjoyed leading an extensive number of societies and events, notably as President of The Royal Holloway University Feminist Society in 2021-22, and as the Stage Manager of a 'School of Rock' production in 2020. She has also represented academic institutions as both a student and subject ambassador. These roles, combined with her professional experience, have equipped Molly with a variety of skills in social media management, recruitment, strategising, communication and leadership.

Synopsis:"My Healing Era" is an unflinchingly honest and deeply personal exploration of Molly’s journey through the labyrinth of misogyny, sexualization, the pitfalls of patriarchal conditioning, and the trauma of rape at 18. Opening with the stark realization that society has the power to construct our thoughts and desires, Molly embarks on a raw and poignant narrative of reclaiming her identity and healing from the wounds inflicted by a culture that diminishes and objectifies women.Structured in five powerful parts, this book delves into Molly's raw emotions, grappling with denial and acceptance, the learning curve of self-discovery, navigating anger and self-forgiveness, establishing boundaries, and ultimately redefining her sense of self. From the torment of self-blame to the fury she redirected at men, Molly's narrative weaves personal experiences with academic insights, offering readers a multi-dimensional view of her healing journey. Addressing issues like victim-blaming, dating in a patriarchal society, and the struggle for self-worth, Molly boldly dismantles harmful ideologies while guiding readers through the labyrinth of recovery. Each chapter is a testament to resilience, advocating for self-compassion, introspection, and advocating for societal change. "My Healing Era" is not just a memoir; it's a guidebook for anyone seeking solace and empowerment in the face of systemic adversity. With vulnerability and courage, Molly invites readers to join her on a journey toward liberation from societal norms and the pursuit of genuine selfhood beyond trauma and societal expectations. This book is for those seeking not just healing but an unapologetic reclamation of self in a world that often attempts to define, constrain, and diminish their worth. It’s a testament to the strength inherent in every individual, celebrating the power of resilience, self-discovery, and the journey toward healing.
