I am a clinical research coordinator serving veterans through LAVREC's partnership with the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System/New Orleans VA Medical Center. I oversee multiple clinical research trials of human subjects (veterans); designated subject matter expert. My current responsibilities include COVID-19 trials and a cancer biomarker assay development study. I enjoy the fast-paced, detailed, data-driven environment of research, as well as the getting to know veterans through participant relationship management. I supervise and initiate patient screening, recruitment, obtaining informed consent, scheduling of procedures per protocol, as well as follow-up visits, safety monitoring, and lab processing. I ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, SOPs, VA-specific controls, and study-specific procedures. I create and maintain audit-ready primary source documentation to capture all relevant clinical trial data.

I deepen the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of Southeast Louisiana’s impact with families by connecting them with clinical care centers, equipment loans and repairs, summer camp, family-interest fundraising, and fellowship events. I pride myself on developing relationships with SELA’s families and their networks through clear and genuine communication. I act as a general liaison between MDA families and healthcare and service providers. I field, research, and answer up to 30 inquiries from clients, providers, caretakers, sponsors, and clinicians per day. I provide resources and guidance to registered families as well as oversee equipment loan program and donations with local DME vendor and expedite equipment repairs. I connect family teams and participants with multiple Muscle Walks, and support development of all aspects MDA’s annual Summer Camp. I write grants, recruit counselors and campers, and connect sponsors to available camp opportunities. I lead Engage educational events and symposiums. I inform clients of novel drugs and breaking clinical trials, and help them find access to treatments and providers. I help families overcome barriers to access in their care. I have also coordinated regional fundraising efforts for galas and client-centered gatherings, for which I researched, recruited and communicated with hundreds of potential donors; I negotiated and secure contributions worth more than $10,000.

I prepare and distribute sales leads for large city-wide conventions, and act as business and information liaison for meeting groups, hotels, venues, and visitors. I also supervise design layout, content, and production for relevant marketing material distributed to potential clients.This fall, I created, printed, and packaged time-sensitive promotional gift that reached 300 high-profile clients.I also co-publish the NOCVB’s quarterly Local Line newsletter. I advise topics, create copy, source photos, and build landing pages for each issue, which reaches 170 organizational representatives.

I worked with local business leaders to foster entrepreneurship and create new occupant trajectory for a historically significant neighborhood. I enjoyed digging deep into scientific, entrepreneurial and anthropological primary sources to write business plans, cost analyses, post-mortems, and patent summaries. I met and advise local entrepreneurs in the food, biofuel, air transport, and entertainment industries.Co-authored and -edited retail center proposals for both urban and rural environments. One of which, Big Creek General Store in Neshoba County, Miss., broke ground in late 2012. Quoted by Clarion-Ledger during open-forum discussion on Big Creek and Millsaps’ involvement with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

I enjoyed planning out all the aspects of BOOM, a quarterly business and city-interest magazine, including articles, photos, graphics and layout. I assigned articles to freelancers and in-house staff, supervised interns. I researched topics for coverage, interviewed subjects, and wrote copy. I edited and fact-checked every page in the magazine, and loved the feeling when the book went to press. I scheduled and managed (and wrangled) photo shoots for the magazine's fashion spreads.
