In conjunction at Polk County Conservation (PCC), I co-founded Horses Helping Heroes (H3), an equine-assisted therapy program serving military veterans. It was an integrated partnership between PCC and the Des Moines VA, but the creation of the program was personally proposed and spearheaded by myself and my co-founder. It has been very successful (300+ veterans during my tenure) and continues today.- Lead the initial research and analysis of program feasibility and implementation. - Created the foundational program’s curriculum and continuously iterated upon it based off user feedback with scalability in mind.- Primary contributor for 2019 VA Adaptive Sport Grant application. I was responsible for writing the formal program SOP and visualizing a comprehensive breakdown of program operating expenses and funding sources. - Developed methods for collecting consistent qualitative data for an Iowa State University research study on the efficacy of H3’s programming goals.- Kept key stakeholders informed on program metrics and upcoming opportunities.- Spearheaded our annual grassroots fundraising gala, which grew consistently year-over-year, raising over $22k in 2019. - Collaborating with VA contacts and related organizations and partnership.
