Google Search Pm Ii
In March 2017 I joined the Google Search team building a new whole-page framework for mobile search that now covers upwards of 10% of Google Search traffic and enables dynamic organization of search results around top user needs. After initial launch, I expanded this framework to support immersive search verticals (sports, local, health), and to dynamically identify top intents and serve them with structure web answers for long-tail queries.I also became the PM for Google Books in October 2017 - re-envisioning the UI, features, and information architecture for "Google's first moonshot" while managing all books and author data in Search.
Google Forms Pm
As of June 2015 I took on Google Forms in addition to the Classroom mobile apps - leading all strategy, definition, and execution for the new Forms redesign in Fall 2015. Under my tenure, we created Quizzes in Google Forms for faster formative assessments, and launched autocompleting questions & option suggestions - an intelligent feature built on Google's AI strengths. I worked closely with the Forms community to add a long-requested features and question types, like a "File Upload" question that stores selected files in Google Drive (requiring tricky cross-functional negotiation with the Drive team). I also led the strategy, design, and initial implementation of improved theming, question import, and additional auto-suggestion improvements.
Google Classroom Pm
I was the second PM on the Google Classroom team, joining shortly before initial launch and leading a 6-month sprint to design, development, and launch of the Classroom Android and iOS apps in January 2015 (5M installs in the first 6 months). In the 2 years after that, I designed and launched the Classroom Share Button (with major integrations like PBS and Duolingo), the ability to reuse posts in Classroom, the apps Notifications framework, and Annotations in our Classroom mobile apps. I also
Associate Product Manager - Native Client
I joined Google as the Product Manager for Chrome Native Client, managing the launch of Portable Native Client (pNaCl) 2 months after starting at Google. After launch I led growth for PNaCl, forming and managing integrations with Adobe, Samsung, Figma, and Google Earth - driving strong internal and external growth of the Native Client platform. I also oversaw a collaboration with the ChromeOS team that brought Android apps to Chromebooks for the first time. The pain points and gaps I identified during this 1 year rotation led to the creation of WebAssembly as a shared cross-browser initiative.
Student
I majored in Computer Science with a concentration in Human Computer Interaction. I took a plethora of classes in Design, Needfinding, User-centered development, Programming, and Algorithms. I graduated with a BS and left half way through my MS in CS to pursue real-world experience as an APM at Google.
Cs 247 Ta
I was TA for the Human Computer Interaction Design Studio, guiding students through the ideation, creation, and refinement of the gesture-based applications they built over the quarter.
Resident Assistant, Trancos
I was a live-in resource for students in a freshman dorm of 80 students where I fostered community, mediated disputes, and provided advice and counseling.
Cs106 Section Leader
I teach a section of ~12 students in the introductory CS class covering topics in greater depth than in lecture. I grade their assignments as well as help students work though bugs and formulate solutions in my 2hr office hours each week.
Chi 2013 Publicity Coordinator
I handled the CHI 2013 media interactions including vetting journalists, writing press releases, and organizing speaker interviews.
Associate Product Manager Intern
I worked on the Google Shopping team to redesign how Merchants and Consumers interact with Tax and Shipping information. My design - based on user research with >50 merchants, technical capabilities of our system, and modular flexibility - was subsequently implemented and launched as "shipping groups".
Software Engineer Intern
I interned on Search UI working with the Authorship team. I worked on the front end in Javascript and HTML, along with backend connections in C++....that's all I can tell you right now, I'll update when it gets released to the WORLD!
Research Assistant
I worked on an ethnographic research study of millennials, interviewing, shadowing, analyzing, and writing about our discoveries and insights. My project lead was Victoria Bellotti, and we submitted a paper to CHI2012 - "Youth Under the Influence: Media and Technology Use and Sources of Influence Amongst Millennials"
Pm In Shared Operations Business Management
I interned at Microsoft as a PM in the business division working with operations to design a taxonomy of online services to accelerate and standardize the design and implementation of new cloud services.
User Experience Contractor
I worked as a contractor to analyze data on how users felt about a given topic on Facebook through analysis of emotionally-strong language in posts. Specifically, we looked at user responses to Facebook's change of news feed layouts in Fall of 2009.
Team Captain
I was the president of the Bellevue High robotics club, and captain of a team of ~20 students. We designed, drafted, and built a 6'x4'x3' robot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. We won the State competition my Junior year (advancing to '08 Nationals in Atlanta) and the Judges Award my Senior year for above-and-beyond outreach and student development efforts.
