I received my Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Saint Luke's College of Health Sciences in 2020. I am a board certified family nurse practitioner in the states of Kansas and Missouri. While attending graduate school, I worked as a registered nurse in orthopedics at The University of Kansas Health System. My clinical experience includes emergency medicine, orthopedics, primary care, and urgent care settings. As a competitive runner growing up, I was always researching what factors played into how my body performed on the track. After some time, my interest shifted into how I could help others live healthier lives and prevent illness. I decided to pursue a degree in Community Health Education prior to nursing because of how the two majors beautifully intertwine. My B.S.E in Community Health provides a background in health education, health prevention, and health behavior theory, which I utilize daily when delivering preventive education to my patients. While at KU (Lawrence), I served as the president of the Community Health Outreach Program. Through this organization, I was able to network with other health-minded students on campus and organize health-related events within the Lawrence community. As an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, I trained clients and performed fitness assessments at our campus recreation center. The last semester of my Community Health degree program was spent completing a semester long internship at OrthoKansas in Lawrence, KS. This is where my interest in orthopedics and desire to become a nurse practitioner developed.
