Molly Crawford Email and Phone Number
I came into the community development world through several lifelong interests, including historic preservation, architecture, art, urban places and, of course, people. In college, when I was introduced to Urban Planning by a professor, I was amazed that all of these interests coalesced into one degree; into one professional field. I quickly changed my major and transferred schools to gain a better education in my new field of study. While at CSU, I applied for and received an internship at a local community development corp, Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation. This internship turned into another, into another, and when all was said and done I had spent almost 3 years total with the organization. The experience I gained in all areas of the organization kindled a love for non-profit organizations and the invaluable work that they do for their communities. When DCA absorbed the staff of HGNC, I was happy to stay and work with the Business Development team on utilizing data to inform and promote the work that DCA does. I currently serve as a Business Development Specialist assisting with research and reporting for the Downtown Cleveland Alliance.

Business Development SpecialistDowntown Cleveland Alliance Sep 2021 - Dec 2021Cleveland, Ohio, United StatesIn September of 2021, HGNC merged with DCA, leading to all HGNC staff becoming staff of DCA. I also took on a different role at this time, working with the business development and advocacy team on data-driven reports that are also creative, engaging, and tell the story of Downtown Cleveland. My responsibilities in this role include: collecting and analyzing data, designing graphs and charts, designing printed reports, organizing information within reports, and researching similar efforts in peer cities/regions/markets. -

AssistantHistoric Gateway Neighborhood Corp Feb 2019 - Sep 2021Cleveland, Ohio, United StatesMy involvement with HGNC began with 3 internships that morphed into a part-time job. Because of this, I was involved in multiple areas of the organization. I began with organizing and implementing a database for improving contact and connectedness with stakeholders. I then became involved in planning and executing neighborhood events, as well as supporting marketing efforts and executing event marketing. My third internship centered around planning and design, and I became heavily involved in the Downtown Design Review Committee, as well as the Place Committee. In May of 2020, I transitioned to being a part-time employee of the organization and took on a combination of the roles I had filled over my internships, including: marketing and social media responsibilities, planning and placemaking support, website management, administrative duties, event planning and execution, data organization (physical and digital) as well as conducting historic research and collecting relevant historic materials for easier reference in the future. -
Research FellowCleveland State University Aug 2019 - May 2020Cleveland/Akron, Ohio AreaDuring my time at Cleveland State University I was honored to spend a year employed by the University as a recipient of the Campbell-Steinbacher Endowed Fellowship. During this year I worked under Dr. Stephanie Ryberg-Webster conducting research in the area of historic preservation. This research examined the similarities and differences between Cleveland and peer Legacy Cities relative to their historic preservation efforts on a planning level. We studied the master plans and major non-profit and private historic preservation efforts in 15 peer Legacy Cities. This research laid the groundwork for future projects and case studies regarding historic preservation in Legacy Cities.
