Vice President: Campaigns
Roehampton, London
Vice President Campaigns was an elected sabbatical position. As Vice President I was a trustee of Roehampton Students' Union (RSU) and a lead representative for the students of Roehampton. My portfolio of work was Campaigns so I was also responsible for the planning, execution and communication of all RSU lead campaigns. This included: Go Green Fortnight, Breast Cancer Awareness, Don't Dis-my-ability Week, Think before you Drink, a General Election campaign encouraging students to vote and more. I was also responsible for RAG (Raising and Giving) efforts and set up the first RAG committee, ran the first RSU Jailbreak, organised a RAG week which included an Oktoberfest celebration, a dodgeball tournament, and a Zombie run, and assisted with the co-ordination of a Live 24 hour radio show.Communication was a key part of my role, as well as a big personal interest, and so during my time at RSU I took on the responsibility of running the RSU Instagram account as well as utilising snapchat, Facebook and Twitter to promote campaigns. I also worked closely with the Fresh Air Radio intern and Fresh TV intern; recording jingles and writing scripts for and directing videos. An example of this is the video we produced to explain the General Election to students which was 'Highly Commended' in the factual category at the National Student Television Association Awards. As a sabbatical officer I was also expected to write regular reports on the achievements of the Students' Union, blogs to update students on what I had been working on, and content for our student led magazine. I also often lead on agenda items in meetings, committees and councils, presenting ideas or updates to students, staff and members of the local community.
