Apr 2014 - Aug 2017

Simulator Technician / Ground Instructor

Ground instructor duties focused on training of ATCA cadets - Aircraft General Knowledge, Principles of Flight, Aircraft Performance and Navigation subjects.I developed a simulator of the flightplan management software present at Al Dhafra military base - this was then used to train assistants heading to that field.I developed an instructor-pilot communication tool with a graphical interface that runs on iPads. In the sim this allows instructors to alter an exercise as required, introduce emergencies or request a specific action for an aircraft or vehicle.I added an airfield lighting system to the e.sigma CBAST simulator and was commended by themanufacturer for the results.I developed software which prints flight strips in a variety of formats - user can select or deselect fields as required e.g. aircraft type, squawk, etc. Data is synchronized with aircraft flightplan files on a network drive.

Apr 2012 - Mar 2014

Simulator Pilot / Adjacent Sector Operator

Involved in rating training (area control surveillance) for ab-initio ATCO students. From the second year I was in charge of the day-to-day maintenance of the simulator, including software and hardware troubleshooting.Other tasks assigned to me included: testing of new simulator exercises, development of online briefings for student review prior to each lesson, updating and converting training presentations to the new e-Learning format.
