▪ Organize, prioritize, and report received samples to Process Owner▪ Wet digestion of samples for atomic absorption (AA), ICP-MS, and ICP-OES analysis▪ Gravimetric digestion to determine gold and silver concentration▪ Daily and safe use of hazardous chemicals such as ammonia, scandium, nitric and hydrochloric acid▪ Daily use and calibration of micropipettes and dispensettes▪ Preparation of internal solutions: o Standard gold (Au) solutions for AAS calibration curve o Gravimetric digestion and wash solutions o Preparation of carboys for daily digestion of AA samples▪ Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot the AAS; use SpectrAA software▪ Analyze samples during instrument run to identify out of spec results and possible issues relating to weigh, flux, and fusion processes – report data to data analysts▪ Track inventory of reagents, chemicals and supplies and report to Process Owner ▪ Conduct special digestion procedure for samples using hot plate and vacuum filtration methodso Solely responsible for special digestion; train new technician on procedure▪ Disposal of chemical waste according to established methods▪ Communicate and coordinate with members of other labs to ensure timely completion of jobs▪ General laboratory housekeeping

▪ Complete, maintain logs, and record data in LIMS 2003▪ Catalogue, label, sort, inventory, and archive all samples received ▪ Weigh samples on and calibrate analytical balances daily▪ Maintain and report equipment issues as they relate to sample weigh and production▪ Identify problems originating from sample preparation▪ Ensure turnaround times meet client and manager demands

▪ Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.▪ Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges.▪ Compute sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment.▪ Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.

▪ Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.▪ Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.▪ Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items.▪ Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.▪ Communicate with children to understand interests and help their parents choose merchandise for them.

▪ Process payments by cash, debit, or credit.▪ Process lottery transactions on OLG system.▪ Request information or assistance using paging systems.▪ Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties, such as sweeping floors and emptying trash cans.

▪ Complete and maintain logs and update support website/LIMS.▪ Label and sort samples, test tubes, and package boxes.▪ Prioritize jobs based on urgency; complete rush jobs before others.▪ Weigh samples using a decimal balance and record data in LIMS.▪ Complete daily weight checking of balances to ensure proper calibration.▪ Maintain and report equipment issues as they relate to sample weigh and production related issues.▪ Assist other departments as needed; complete fluxing jobs, weighing ignition jobs, operate ovens.▪ Assist in ensuring turnaround (TAT) meets client and manager demands.

▪ Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI).▪ Process samples for all food microbiology tests; ACC, Coliforms/E. coli, E. coli 0157:H7, S. aureus, Salmonella, Listeria, and other tests▪ Handling of various types of food samples in an aseptic manner including nuts, raw meat, seafood, and dairy.▪ Maintain adequate supply of media and other chemicals throughout the Microbiology Laboratory.▪ Weighing and pipetting of samples, testing samples with pH tools and correcting pH levels with appropriate reagent.▪ Participate in internal quality control audits of laboratory and external audits by CFIA▪ Work as a team and independently to complete client jobs efficiently.
