Liaison between the Flint, MI community and the U-M School of Public Health to support the Flint water crisis response from a public health perspective.

Instructor for Geography, Planning and Environment Department course "Healthy People, Healthy Planet: Shaping a Sustainable, Healthy Future" (ESS/URP 140). Exploring sustainable urbanism, environmental justice and health/well-being through the themes of healthy neighborhoods and homes, food system planning, waste management, ecopsychology, environmental behaviorism and mental health.

Think of me as a matchmaker and a bridge between the University of Michigan-Flint and the rest of the community.I am responsible for leading a team that focuses on providing services to faculty and students for academically-oriented teaching and service in/with the Flint community and beyond.We generate energy and support for UM-Flint's institutional commitment to civic engagement. We create life-changing educational experiences. We give students hands-on experience in the community to prepare them to be excellent future professionals and engaged community members.My service work within the university includes being an active member of the UM-Flint Diversity Council; the Women's Education Center Advisory Board; and the Student Success Center Work Group for Active Learning, Experiential Learning & Internships.

Responsible for supporting UM-Flint faculty and community organizations in working together to bring academic learning to life through community-engaged classes and research. Provided faculty with professional development workshops, one-on-one course consultations, and support for course logistics. Responsible for preparing and submitting campus-wide reports related to UM-Flint's community engagement. As a result of being the lead author for award applications, UM-Flint was selected to receive national recognition through the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement (2010) and state-wide recognition through the Engaged Campus of the Year Award (2011). Actively served on the secondary education program design committee, strategic planning task force for outreach & engagement, general education learning outcome committee, and teaching circles.

Responsible for being co-lead manager for the Center with duties including grant and staffing oversight related to watershed management, land conservation, and community outreach facilitation. Conducted grant-funded project work, including: administrative coordination for the Flint River Corridor Alliance (FRCA) and Hamilton Dam Committee; facilitating focus groups with 200 participants for the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission Capital Improvement Study; and organizing a campus-wide voter registration drive for the UM-Flint American Democracy Project.

Responsible for managing all aspects of the Office of Research annual budget of up to $1.2 million, including financial disbursement and reporting for three (3) faculty grant programs and eight (8) donor-funded student grant programs, and externally sponsored projects. Advised faculty on successful grant writing practices and compliance guidelines for federal, university, foundation, and corporate grants. Revamped and streamlined financial tracking systems, reporting processes, and major grant programs.
