Mona Muker is an appellate-level Adjudicator with the Review Division, Employment Standards Tribunal, and Financial Services Tribunal. She exercises sound judgment to adjudicate appeals of decisions made by the Workers Compensation Board of BC, the BC Employment Standards Branch, and the BC Financial Services Authority—for personal injury, employment, and professional responsibility matters, respectively.Previously, Mona was a Staff Lawyer & Tribunals Program Manager with Access Pro Bono Society of BC. She practiced estate planning, appeared before administrative tribunals, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia— for employment, residential tenancy, and administrative law matters. She also provided legal advice to detainees under the Mental Health Act. Mona was also a supervising lawyer and practice advisor to volunteer law students and lawyers. Formerly, Mona practiced real estate, business, and estates law as a sole practitioner in Vancouver. She is also experienced in civil litigation and criminal defence. Mona uses her diverse legal background to mentor numerous law students and young lawyers. Mona has actively contributed to the legal community. She previously served the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch as the Chair of its Legislation & Law Reform Committee, and as a member of its Provincial Council. She has served the British Columbia Law Institute— a scholarly research and law reform agency, as a member of its Board of Directors. She also served the City of Vancouver’s Renting Sector and the BC Mental Health Review Board, as a stakeholder and external advisor. Mona has presented at webinars to support the professional development of BC lawyers. She has also trained the BC Provincial Court Justice Access Centre staff. She previously served as a guest speaker and panelist at the University of British Columbia.
