Part-time/temporary contractor for Snorkel AI. Tested AI algorithms used by famous artificial intelligence software such as ChatGPT, specifically with regards to Bioinformatics topics. This was done by creating questions on a weekly basis that successfully stumped the software. Reviewed and approved questions submitted by fellow bioinformaticians.

Part-time contractor for the Delaware Public Health Lab (DPHL). Continued work on Bioinformatics pipelines I pioneered for DPHL as a fulltime employee and lead exploration into newer WGS projects for DPHL, such as influenza sequencing. Set up new pipelines for analysis and upload of WGS data to NCBI & GISAID for various pathogens, including wastewater WGS data. Polished processes and took the lead for the validation projects for Bioinformatics.

Contractor for CDC under the new CORVD (Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division). Managed bioinformatics processes with regards to WGS public data submissions of COVID-19 to NCBI & GISAID. Managed data tables in Cloudera (CDP) and associated pipelines. Also managed software updates of Pangolin and Nextclade and the code pertaining to these updates. Helped with coding fixes and new scripts as required for various pipelines within CORVD, utilizing various languages such as Python, Perl, shell, R, Nextflow, and Scala.

Managed, optimized, and troubleshot bioinformatics processes that I set up as a contractor; trained staff to use bioinformatics workflows. Created data visualizations in R Studio. Helped to bring on wastewater sequencing/analysis; also helped to add on other pathogens to our sequencing capacity (e.g. Hep-C HVR1). Mentored one Bioinformatics Graduate student. Assisted with grants & awards; helped lab gain a quarter million dollar grant from the NIH for a COVID-19 Bioinformatics/Sequencing project in collaboration with Bioinformaticians at Nemours Children Hospital. Created batches in a LIMS; performed ionic extraction utilizing CaCl2 incubations; ran and maintained an automated multi-probe pH robot; managed sample times in combustion furnaces.
