My role involved supporting families involved with Children's Services who already had a social worker and were at risk of their children going into care. I would work closely with the family and any friends and family they identified to get a robust plan of support in place. The family could also then use this plan as evidence in court of what they had put in place to meet the concerns of Children's Services.

I conducted a research project looking at pain recognition and management in adults with learning disabilities. I gathered information from a variety of settings and services across the county and once I had collated and analysed by data, I wrote a report which was published in various journals. I then developed a training package for staff to raise awareness in this area, which was also published.

I worked at the Behaviour Assessment and Management Clinic for the Child and Family Consultation Service in Basildon. My job was to attend numerous weekly clinics run by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Consultant Paediatrician. I would do home and school observations and write reports following these, providing practical advice and strategies to families regarding behaviour. I also ran Webster-Stratton Parent Groups and co-ran ADHD Parenting Workshops. Lastly I conducted an audit on the service. This was a fixed term contract.
