Biophysics Research ProgramBiophysical Society May 2016 - Aug 2016The University Of North Carolina At Chapel HillWorked with Hayretin Yumerefendi and Brian Kuhlman in the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry at UNC-CH on LOV domain photoswitches. The project focused on improving the dynamic range of an optogenetic tool engineered by Dr. Yumerefendi by altering the photoswitch through PCR. By characterizing its biophysical activity, imaging a mammalian cell transfection, and performing yeast transcription, the new photoswitch showed promising results. Two poster presentations and one seminar were successfully completed. Wrote and published an article about the first program poster presentation and alumni reunion.
