I have a strong leadership and student support background in higher education administration, including budget and staff supervision, organizational understanding, implementing and interpreting policies, creation of new programming, and collaborating with faculty and other administrators to identify ways of enhancing student experience and driving student retention through educational engagement. In various roles of Professional Tutor, Adjunct Lecturer, Interim Director and Director, I’ve exercised strong leadership skills in building motivated teams and problem solving for both short and long-term departmental challenges in alignment with strategic planning and operational goals. I’ve drawn on strong relationships with senior administration and faculty to develop and sustain long-standing programs, particularly those centered on the first year experience. My work has always been hands-on and in tune with best practices for optimal student experience.My experience and leadership in supporting student achievement is broad and committed. I have demonstrated strategic vision and innovation through the development of multiple academic programs designed to deliver targeted support in areas of college transitioning and academic preparedness and persistence. These programs evolved from my efforts and college-wide collaborations resulting in students not only persisting but thriving. Additionally, I have served on several committees to help the institution identify diversity challenges and opportunities that could be addressed through a multi-departmental approach. We have worked together to clarify policies, as well as create new mechanisms that support a successful and satisfying college experience. Through all of this work, the one consistent drive has been the personal and professional satisfaction I attain from helping students reach their highest potential, as well as shape their overall student experience. As a first generation student and a firm believer of lifelong learning, I continuously participate in professional development and training courses and have demonstrated experience with forging strong relationships within the immediate and broader college community. I am especially committed to working with traditionally marginalized and inter-sectional populations to ensure that all students have a meaningful college experience.
