Drawing is seeing, and it is a teachable language, like writing. Everyone can learn the foundations, and then artists can go on and get creative and speak truth with it in their own voices. The gift of teaching art is a "splendid torch" we can use for a lifetime to reveal truth, and do good. If I succeed as an art teacher, it will be because I have passed on my love for the beautiful; in art, in nature, in humanity, in the glorious everyday.My winding path as a working artist and entrepreneur (coffeehouses and a pub) has, through my own children, at last, led me to the classical studio classroom. I have a vision for the arts integrated so completely into a school's culture and curriculum, that no one will question why we take the time and expense to teach it, and someday I will hear "I can't draw a straight line" for the last time.As a lifelong learner and passionate artist, I am so happy to have the opportunity, since 2021, to work with Hillsdale K12 Education, as an art teacher at Naples Classical Academy.
