Monica Forbes is a person in long term recovery and the founder of PEER Wellness Center, Idaho’s first Recovery Community Center located in Boise. Today, she serves as the CEO/Administrator for Recovery United , Inc. which operates three Idaho Recovery Community Centers and owns Peer Recovery Supports of Idaho, LLC. Monica is the President of the Idaho Association of Addiction Professionals: the Idaho NAADAC affiliate. She is also a subject matter expert on peer-based recovery support services, Opioid Use Disorder and serves as a consultant with the Opioid Response Network. Monica is a certified Community Educator, Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist, an Idaho Certified Recovery Coach-Supervisor, and Medical Assistant. She is certified as a SMART Recovery Group Facilitator and CRAFT Interventionist (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). Monica volunteers on several boards and committees in the community. Her passion is working with individuals and community stakeholders to affect systemic change and remove barriers to long-term recovery. Monica is the recipient of the 2016 Region IV Advocate for Recovery award from the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare.
