Responsible for reviewing all Emergency Department charts, observation charts for billiable charges and hours, qualifying Acute and Observation admits by using Milliman Care Guidelines, Pre-authorizations with insurance companies, communicating with physicians and nurses regarding patient status (labs, x-rays, progress notes, etc), Social Services for all admits, Swing Bed qualifications and activities, DPOA’s of healthcare, Living Wills, and DNR’s, Discharge Planning to home, nursing home placement, home health, in-home care. Also help the clinic set up for medical necessity to issure ABN’s when needed.

Medical Records and ActivitiesResponsible for medical records – entering physician’s orders and diagnosis, filling in charts physician orders, lab and diagnostic tests, thinning charts, and setting up a new overflow chart system, chart auditing; Activities- interacting with the residents in their activities, lead in devotions, guide the residents in their daily scheduled activities, charting in the resident’s charts the activities in which they have participated.

Responsible for answering phones, ordering tests, entering charges in the computer, spreadsheets, getting patient information to the radiologists.

Responsible for distributing medicine to residents, taking vital signs, assisting with baths, dressing, meals, and any other duties to help the residents.

Responsible for the scheduling and daily duties of a staff of 22 people. Maintained the flow of patients in outpatient services, surgeries, emergency room and urgent care. Registered patients verified insurance and trained new employees. Trained the admitting department, cancer center and outpatient services on the Care Medic System that was used for LMRP and ABN’s. Daily usage of ICD9 coding and CPT coding.
