As an intern at Coldwell Banker, I focus primarily on marketing. This consists of: emailing open house, new listing, and recent sale campaigns; designing weekly newsletters and marketing materials, organizing contact lists, conducting market research through the use of the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), updating listings in the MLS, developing proficiency with all CB Intouch applications, managing social media accounts and websites, promoting listings through Boost marketing and SEO, generating descriptions of properties and communities served, handling relocation assignments, and organizing CMA (Comparative Market Analysis) reports. On a day-to-day basis, I work with my boss to implement ways to streamline the process of approaching the sale of homes regarding organizing emails, photography, and promotions.

While attending a college preparatory boarding school during my high school years, I was required to dress in business attire everyday. This attire includes a blazer, oxford button-down shirt, and a skirt of a specific length. Inspired to make my own skirts, I began to experiment with fabrics and a sewing machine and I was able to make items that fit both the uniform requirements and my personal fashion tastes. As I received more and more compliments on my skirts, many people mentioned that they would be interested in purchasing my hand-made creations if I made that option available. Subsequently, I worked on a very small clothing business of my own whenever I was able to find the time. I administered Instagram and Facebook pages in order to market my products, and I worked with materials from local fabric stores to create my clothing pieces.

I worked as an intern for my extended family’s insurance company which focuses primarily on insuring collector cars, however they do sell general home and auto insurance as well. While there, I was in charge of tasks which included: scanning, filing, billing customers, compiling commission statements in excel spreadsheets, sending out commissions to our brokers, barcoding, and quoting insurance. For an entire workweek while my extended family members were on vacation, I worked with only two other women and my tasks that week were to essentially do the job of my superior - to quote insurance for customers for both homes and automobiles. My overall objective for this position was to facilitate the daily operations of the business -- specifically, to complete the tasks that are relatively simple but require a significant amount of time.

There, I worked under the president of the company, Luke Smith, who guided me in learning valuable marketing strategies, how to work with excel in order to keep organized inventory records and projections, and conducting market research for my small business.
